Waltz arrived in South America, brought by the Europeans and it was already danced in Buenos Aires around 1810. Therefore, each South American country adopted its own way of reproducing the rhythm. In Argentina, payadores (musicians who played and sang rhymes in pairs accompanied by guitars) began to play and compose waltzes.
Later, tango musicians and orchestras also added to their repertoire, taking it to their presentations. In dance, many of the tango figures are used, giving preference to more fluid movements and turns, avoiding cuts and sudden movements, in order to maintain the ternary rhythmic cadence that makes up the waltz.
